south side does it better

I met this gorgeous girl at Pastizzi's on King st, Newtown.
The scarf is Akira and the best thing I've seen in a while.

And I definitely recommend the Vodka pasta.

shock corridors

Bottega Veneta have released a rather lovely, if not terribly challenging, F/W 09.10 campaign.

On a superficial level it reminds me of the horrid one the Olsen twins did for Badgley Mishka:
Ugh. I'm glad Bottega Veneta didn't go for the gargantuan-head look. It seems a little dated.

Style Hons.

Unity, Diana and Nancy Mitford

Daphne Guinness

Stella Tennant

These women are all related. Daphne is Diana's grandaughter and Stella's grandmother was the youngest Mitford sister, Debo (in fact there was a fabulous photo shoot with the latter two some years back. Whoever finds it gets a treat.)
So maybe style is in the genes after all?

beetlejuicy

The jewelery designer Lingua Nigra makes these stunners using real beetle wings, or 'elytra'. Is that gross?
I don't think so.
Stars and Infinite Darkness stocks a range of her creations.

Boing.

These darling shoes from Etsy will sure put a spring in your step.

I loath myself.

Should I get these, Conk?

I'm all crazy for these Henry Holland for Pretty Polly stockings at the moment - the design is such a modern take on the traditional garter style and kind of reminds me of the silhouette of a city skyline. Unfortunately the only stockist I have been able to find is the website UK Tights and I'm still deathly afraid of the Australian dollar/ pound exchange rate. What to do?

this is a song about water

Someone lovely drew my attention to this photo by Toni Frissell from the December 1947 issue of Harper's Bazaar.  It reminded me immediately of a Prada campaign which, unfortunately, I can't date:

I used to have a live version of the Hole song 'Malibu'. It began with Courtney Love saying something like 'This is a song about water, so DRINK IT. Every vegetable in all the world needs water...'
And water seemed to be the central motif for their album Celebrity Skin - the 1895 painting Ophelia by Paul Steck used for the back art:
This record is dedicated to all the stolen water of Los Angeles
and anyone who ever drowned.

RTA, killing my life.

I recently incurred a fine for accidentaly driving through Sydney's Cross City Tunnel (it came out of nowhere!) without having my car fitted out (souped up, if you will) with one of those little e-tag dashboard robot men. Whatever.
So I paid the fine on the RTA website and requested a receipt for said payment. Here's what I got - d'ya reckon it would look good on a t-shirt?
Probably not, but I'd be interested in seeing it printed on a lycra full-bodysuit.
